Groceries Not Guns
We are calling on grocery stores to adopt a gun sense policy because:
- In over 40 states it’s legal for virtually anyone to openly carry a loaded gun, with absolutely no permit or safety training, often without a background check.
- Many stores’ current policy allows people to openly carry guns in grocery aisles, creating an unsafe and uncomfortable environment for customers and employees alike.
- While we’re shopping with our kids, we don’t want to have to guess whether someone carrying a gun is just another shopper, or an imminent threat to our safety.

ABOUT GROCERIES NOT GUNS
We can build a safer country by empowering individuals to take action in their communities.
What do you want to change?
Families deserve to feel safe when they’re at the grocery store. We shouldn’t have to stand in a checkout line next to a stranger openly carrying a gun -- especially because in over 40 states, virtually anyone can openly carry a loaded gun with no permit or training. Thanks to loopholes in federal gun laws, it’s also easy for people in most of those states to get a gun without going through a background check. Businesses have the right -- and the responsibility -- to stand up for customer and employee safety. That’s why we’re asking grocery stores across the country to prohibit the open carry of guns in their stores.
Who can make it happen?
Moms Demand Action supporters have already convinced major American companies like Starbucks, Target, Chipotle, and Panera, to adopt gun sense policies. When we speak, businesses listen.
